What is Common Sense?
So common sense in the terms means those activities that we perform in our daily life but do not rise questions over those activities. These activities come under common sense.
What would Sociology ask?
Sociology would ask why it is common? Why we do not raise questions to those common sense activities. For example celebrating of Birthday, wearing College uniform daily
So the main moto is Sociology asks WHY?
We do not question to our self that why do we go to school daily? Now education platforms are provided online so why should students go to school?
So the main thing of sociology with respect to common sense is that to make the things which looks at familiar make them unfamiliar.
Like why do we remove our shoes before entering the temple?
People also regard hospital as a temple because people visit to doctor there and cure themselves. So Sociology will ask if you regard it as a temple why are not removing the shoes before entering the hospital?
So as i have said the work of sociology in respect to common sense is that to make the familiar things unfamiliar.
What is Sociology?
Sociology is the scientific study of human behaviour, human relationships, human culture etc is known as sociology.
Sociologist who debated for common sense
ANDRE BETEILLE
He explained in three points-:
1.Questions on common sense are not asked.
Ex-Why do we go to school everyday?
2.Common sense is local Sociology finds inter connection
Ex-Some people will say he failed the exam due to the his mistake but Sociology will focus upon the factors that made him fail like lack of resources, environment etc.
3.Sociology can be diff from common sense but is starts from it.
For example Some people will say they are poor and this is the reason why are malnutritioned. But Sociology will focus on those elements which caused this situation

Sociology |
Common Sense |
| Basis |
Personal experience, tradition, and intuition. |
Empirical evidence, data collection, and testing. |
| Perspective |
Individualistic (blames the person for their situation). |
Structural (looks at how society shapes the person). |
| Scope |
Localized, subjective, and often biased. |
Universal, objective, and rigorously reviewed. |
| Nature |
Static and accepted without question. |
Dynamic and constantly questioning assumptions. |
Can Sociology exist without common sense?
Yes sociology cannot exist without common sense because Sociological discipline itself relies on scientific research, empirical evidences etc.
Now can common sense exist without sociology?
Yes common sense can exist without society because we do not ask questions on the things which seems familiar to us.
In other words common sense is gained through socialization, shared, cultures and collective experience it is society that makes certain things common but it is the society only that makes us not to ask questions of common sense saying this is the common thing all people do it for example celebrating a birthday party.
We can think like that if the person who is celebrating his birthday does not ask any questions that why do I celebrate birthday? So this phenomena comes under common sense a sociologist must must ask what is the need to celebrate birthday is the society going to collapse if he did not did not celebrate his birthday is birthday so much important that it can affect the part of society? Can birthday effect the life of an individual? Can birthday improve the academic life of an individual?
We can take another example
Today the technology is very advanced but also today the people use to wear the watches even having the smartphone so sociologist will say that if the individual is having the smartphone in which he can see the time then why is he wearing the watch? What is the purpose of wearing the watch? If he will not wear the watch one day will he die? Is Society going to improve if he wear the watch? Can wearing watch impact the large group of people living in this society?
Now the thing which we should ask to us is who can give us the power to ask questions?
The simple answer to this question is that it was the society only which taught us not to ask questions on common sense. But an individual can ask the questions on the common sense.
Example why do we live in the pakka houses we might have lived in a kutcha house lastly both of them are houses only. Can this phenomena make difference in the society if an individual lives in a pakka house and another individual who lives in a kutcha house. Will society improve if an individual lives in a pakka house? Will society improve if the individual live in a kutcha house?
So these are the some of the sociological questions which we can arise on the common sense.
Your question should be
It should be societies responsibility to make us ask question about common sense?
But you only think if everybody thinks in a sociological way the society will not exist let us see how. If everyone will ask what is cast what is dowry what is religion purposes and all so there will be no corporation in the society and we know that the base of the society is cooperation among the individuals. We know that society cannot exist without individual and individuals cannot exist without society they both are the heads and tails of the same coin .
So we can say that the basic thing of the society is coorperation among the individuals if there is conflict among the individuals the society will collapse so due to the collapsing of the society the culture the ideas the language the thinking this will not transfer from one generation to another.
Note in the sense of thinking you can say that Albert Einstein also was a thinker who gave many theories but in a society there are only one to four privileged people not all people so thinking that Albert Einstein can exit individually is wrong.
Because the calculations which he gave needed the process which was provided by the society only the thinking was his own.
