What is socialization?

The term socialization is a process which the human beings interact with each other.This is known as socialization.

OR

The process by which the human beings learns the culture,norms and values of the society it is known as socialization.

Process of socialization

Primary socialization 

It is the process which is started after the birth from 0-8 yrs.
Agency of primary socialization •Family • mother

What does primary socialization give him language,basic manners and love.

•Secondary socialization

It take place from 8-10yrs

Anticipatory socialization 

When we prepare ourself for the future goal. Example a student preparing for upsc thinks like ips officer from the initial stage of his preparation.

Adult/developmental socialization 

Example-: Job,Marriage,becoming father,learning to perform the new roles.

Resocialization

It means learning the new cultures norms values by forgetting the early learned cultures,norms,values

Anticipatory socialization 

i.Negative socialization -Learning about wrong things.

Example smoking with friends

ii.Gender-Socalization-Girls like pink boys like blue. This is the thing taught by the the society.The society has made the boys as the people who are strong,dont cry in public,girls as emotional etc.

Characteristics of socialization 

• Lifelong process-Birth till death teaches about culture n all of society.

•Makes our personality-Without society we are nothing

•Teaches us social control-What is wrong/right.

Ego-: I hv money but is this the correct time to eat this?

Super ego

Stealing is crime, mom will scold

Socialization is the main base of the society without it society cannot run.If socialization is stopped 

i.Culture, traditions, practices n all will not pass from one generation to another.

ii.If every individual creates his own rules and norms and tries to implement them on society the society will collapse.

iii.Therefore jails,schools, family are the tools of socialization.
